Quality Criteria for Metal Structures

What to check before accepting a metal structures project.

Visual inspection alone is not sufficient when accepting metal structures work. The following criteria must be verified:

• **Material certificates** — origin and mechanical properties of steel • **Welder qualifications** — per EN ISO 9606 or AWS D1.1 • **NDT reports** — for critical welds • **Coating DFT measurements** — minimum and maximum thickness compliance • **Geometric verification** — alignment with installation tolerances • **Torque wrench logs** — for bolted connections
